Lahore: The Motorway Police has announced closure of all motorways across Pakistan for general traffic, a news source reported. The announcement comes as part of measures taken for controlling the spread of the coronavirus infection.

The authority states that they have banned all kinds of public transport on the motorway routes. However, they have provided a few exceptions for private vehicles in which there were no more than two people. The police officials added that as per policy, even these vehicles would have to provide a satisfactory unavoidable reason for their journey. They revealed that currently only fuel tankers and vehicles transporting essential items were allowed to travel.

Amid the ongoing breakout of the coronavirus infection across the globe, the Pakistani government has taken a number of strict measures to control the virus from spreading. These measures include limiting public movement within cities and domestic travel.
