Lahore: Federal Minister for Science & Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Wednesday said that the government had constituted a scientific task force – under the chairmanship of renowned scientist Professor Atta-ur-Rehman – in a bid to develop a vaccine for COVID-19; caused by the novel coronavirus, a news source reported.

To this effect, he further stated that the Ministry of Science and Technology will monitor the workings of the task force committee. He said that the task force members would conduct research on the vaccine and other novel coronavirus-related issues. He added that the committee would also extend its support to other research institutions across the globe.
The minister also stated that the Science Foundation was launching a data research to answer some important questions pertaining to this new coronavirus disease.

Globally, this latest coronavirus disease has affected 190 countries – claiming more than 18,000 lives so far. Meanwhile, it has affected an estimated half a million people around the world.
