Chakdara: The under-construction Zulam Kot twin-tube tunnel on Swat Expressway near Chakdara is expected to be completed by December 2018, a news source reported. The tunnel is a part of the Swat Motorway Project expected reducing the travel time between Islamabad and Chakdara to 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Speaking on a visit to the location of the tunnel, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Genera Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the under-construction project will boost socioeconomic development in Pakistan. The Director General Frontier Works Organisation and Corps Commander Peshawar were also present during the visit.
The motorway is being built by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government under the Public-Private Partnership Act 2014. The estimated cost of the project is PKR 38 billion.
