Islamabad: During a meeting of the Pak-China Relations Steering Committee on Monday, Planning Minister Asad Umar directed the Ministry of Communication to speed up work on the development of the Zhob-Quetta Road and Thakot-Raikot Road projects, according to news sources. He further directed the ministry to submit proposals to the Cabinet by next week so that the project can be moved to the next development stage.

On the occasion, the attendees were informed that the interest of local and foreign investors in the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was growing and that any delay in the process to finalise a developer for the project could prove to be problematic. As a result, the meeting decided that the Planning Minister should raise this issue with Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
The meeting further discussed the Allama Iqbal Industrial City, with a representative from the Board of Investment reporting that the board member list had been finalized for the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC).

Furthermore, the committee also discussed the delay in the provision of utilities to the Gwadar Port and Free Zone. In this regard, the meeting was informed about the potential investment opportunity in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at Gwadar and that three major companies had already shown an interest in the development of LNG terminals in the area. Planning Minister Asad Umar ordered the Ministry of Petroleum to facilitate investors and coordinate with the concerned ministries to resolve all related issues.
