Lahore: Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has assigned a one-week task to Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) to implement Zero-Waste Policy, reported a news source. Instead of dumping waste, LWMC will use it to manufacture fertiliser, chipboards, related hardware, and other products.
The company will also ensure that waste is collected from all parts of the city on time. It will also take measures for production of gas and electricity from the waste collected from Lahore on a daily basis. The directives were issued by Khan while he chaired a meeting in Lahore. He said that PKR 1.25 billion is being spent monthly to manage, collect, and dispose waste in Lahore, but the desired results are being produced. To address the situation, he also indicated inviting hmore companies on board.
A few days ago, Khan also issued orders for resuming and completing work on Orange Line Metro Train project.
