Islamabad: Working women on Monday requested the authorities concerned to allocate a separate quota for them in the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) so they could overcome accommodation challenges, according to a news source.

They were of the view that such a step would go a long way to resolve their financial constraints; adding that a majority of them belonged to the middle class and any assistance from the government on this front would be beneficial. Owing to their low salaries, they cannot afford to purchase houses and are looking towards this public housing scheme to resolve this issue.

A social activist, Robina Khalid, said that working women were continuously making a significant contribution to the development of the country and should be given accommodation facilities. She applauded government’s attempt to elevate living standards for women and said that women make a major portion of the population, and any steps towards their benefit would reflect positively on the economic growth.
