Lahore: Working paper to construct apartments in LDA City for employees of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA), under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), has been prepared, a news source reported.

A total of 6,425 apartments will be constructed under this project. The Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) governing body will grant an approval to the paper in its next meeting. As per the working paper, NPHP apartments in LDA City will be constructed in three categories:
- Five thousand apartments spanning 800 yd2 for grade 1 to 4 employees
- A total of 2,708 apartments spanning 1,100 yd2 for grade 5 to 16 employees
- 818 apartments spanning 1,500 yd2 apartments for employees from grade 16 to 21

The working paper recommends that these apartments be constructed in LDA City Phase II. For this purpose, the concerned department has reportedly identified 2,000 kanals of land in Mouza Haloki.
In the meanwhile, the country-wide registration for NPHP is currently underway. To facilitate the target audience looking to apply for low-cost housing, the government announced yesterday that they were going to extend the NPHP registration deadline to November 15, 2019.
As per the information shared via news sources, the number of applications received so far from various cities is as follows:
- Lahore = 150,255
- Karachi = 89,062
- Multan = 44,786
- Bahawalpur = 47,802
- Peshawar = 34,484
