Gujranwala: The Government of Punjab has decided to initiate developmental work on all urban and rural union councils (UCs) falling under the domain of the Gujranwala Division, a news source reported. In this regard, the government has sought for the data needed, particularly relating to several hitherto ignored UCs, from the departments concerned.

In the first development phase, the government will rehabilitate broken roads, expired sewerage systems and launch social development programmes in 1030 UCs falling under the jurisdiction of the Gujranwala Metropolitan Corporation and Town Committees.
Moreover, source also claim that the Punjab government has earmarked funds of several uplift schemes for the Gujranwala Division in the provincial budget of Fiscal Year 2020-21. As soon as the Punjab Assembly approves the proposed budget, work will begin on these uplift schemes.

Reportedly, the development work on these projects have been pending from the last couple of years due to lack of funds, however, as the government is now focused on uplifting lifestyle facilities in areas of Gujranwala, it will also resume work on the stalled projects.
