Peshawar: The National Highway Authority (NHA) on Monday stated that it was working on several road infrastructure projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), many of which were set to be constructed in the less developed areas of the province, a news source reported. An NHA official revealed that once completed, these projects would provide opportunities for earning livelihood to the people of adjacent areas.

According to details provided by the NHA official, that KP government had allocated PKR 6,500 million for the dualisation and upgradation of a section of the Indus Highway. He added that the provincial government had allocated and released funds for the said section from Sarai Gambila to Kohat under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2020-21.
The official revealed that the KP government had also earmarked and released over PKR 1,110 million for the Lowari Tunnel and its access roads. He added that it allocated and released another PKR 2,500 million for the 32km long Peshawar Northern Bypass.

According to the official, NHA was also working on the following road infrastructure projects in KP:
- Thakot-Havelian Motorway
- Upgrading of Yarik-Sagu section of N-50
- Dualisation & improvement of Old Bannu Road
- Rehabilitation of national highway network damaged by flash floods of 2010
