Rawalpindi: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has directed the divisional administration to start work on Rawat-Faizabad metro bus service project from the next week, according to news published in national dailies on Wednesday (April 13).

A senior official (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that the feasibility study of the two main lines of the bus service, from Rawat to Faizabad and from Saddar to Tarnol, was conducted in 2017; however, the project was suspended after the change of government. Now, the PM has decided to revive the Rawat to Faizabad metro bus service project. The National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) has been asked to start the work.

Talking about the transit line from Saddar to Tarnol, the official disclosed that running metro bus was not feasible. Instead, five underpasses and a flyover will be constructed. The underpasses will be built at General Post Office (GPO) Golra Morr Square, Pearl Continental Square, Military Hospital Square, and Brig Tariq Mehmood Square. The flyover will be developed at Qasim Market Square opposite the Race Course Park.
