Rawalpindi: The development work resumed on the widening of the Soan River Bridge in Rawalpindi earlier this week and is expected to be completed by the end of December 2023, according to news published in the national dailies on December 22.

As per the details, the Soan River Bridge will be widened from two lanes to four lanes on each side. A spokesperson of the National Highway Authority (NHA) stated that the work on the widening of the bridge was suspended in April this year. Now, a new contract has been awarded for the widening of the Soan River Bridge to Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).

The news source mentioned that leftover construction materials on the bridge and surrounding areas are causing difficulties for the commuters while the commuters coming from Rawat to Rawalpindi, face difficulty as the safety walls of the bridge have been demolished. The relevant authority is directed to speed up the work and complete it without any delay.
