Lahore: The development work on the Ravi water treatment plant, to be constructed in close proximity of the district, is expected to begin this year, a news source reported.

Nearly 650 million gallons of untreated sewerage water is being dumped into the Ravi river, daily. As the water is also used to grow vegetables in the adjacent areas, the Ravi water treatment plant will be established and the work on that will begin mid-year.
A total of 6 water treatment plants have been planned to treat the sewerage water reaching its way into the Ravi river. These plants are being established near Mehmud Buti, Shahdara, Babu Sabu, Mohlanwal, Qatar Band, and the Ferozepur Road.

Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Syed Zahid Azeez revealed that the feasibility reports of the said projects have been completed and the required funds have also been procured, so the work will begin soon.
