Gujranwala: The Punjab government has commenced with the development work on 204 water and sewerage projects in Gujranwala, a news source reported. As per details, the provincial executive recently sanctioned the release of PKR 1.31 billion for these schemes.

According to officials, the purpose of these uplift projects is to improve the sanitation infrastructure as well as to provide potable water to citizens of the Gujranwala division. In the first phase, funds worth PKR 757 million have been released out of which the authorities concerned have spent PKR 371 million on these projects.

The provincial government has assigned the project to Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman in the former’s bid to ensure transparency. To review the schemes, the commissioner recently formed several committees which comprised of deputy commissioners and officials of the development department.
