Lahore: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) spokesman has said that work on Mohmand dam project is set to begin on 13th January, a news source reported. He explained that WAPDA has successfully realigned Mohmand dam project after decades of delay.
According to the spokesman, all legal, financial and technical snags have been removed, and the project will begin in the second week of January. The procurement process, which includes civil works, design, supply & installation of electrical/mechanical works, and hydraulic steel structures, has been initiated.
23 firms purchased the bids, and two joint ventures submitted theirs. The technical bids were then opened on June 26, 2018 in the presence of joint ventures – followed by evaluations. The evaluators included a consortium of consultants hailing from NESPAK, SMEC (Australia) and ACE. As a result, CGGC-DESCON was declared responsive.
Presently, the technical negotiations are underway. After the evaluation process ends, the contractor will be mobilised by mid-march.
