Construction work on the remaining portion of Jail Chowrangi flyover will begin soon. The work will be resumed once the flats for the staff of Karachi Central Prison are completed.
During a visit to the flat sites at the Central Prison, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Mohammad Hussain Syed said that more than 95 flats were being constructed with more than Rs 175 million for the jail staff which was delayed due to proposed flyover.
He said that after the completion of these flats, the jail staff will be shifted to a new location and the work on the pending project would start. The new office of the inspector general of prisons was also being constructed in Muslimabad.
Evacuation and subsequent demolition of structures coming in the way of the flyover loop would take almost a month once the construction work resumes.
