Gwadar: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa laid the foundation stone for a desalination plant in Gwadar, according to a news report. With the support of the UAE and Swiss governments, this plant is slated to fulfil the water needs of the locals, providing them with 4.4 million gallons of water per day, with the capacity going up to 8.8 million gallons.
This project was undertaken to resolve the scarcity of drinking water in the area, and is expected to be completed within a period of six to eight months. The army chief lauded this project as a step towards a greater Balochistan, leading to a greater Pakistan. Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Qadoos Bazinjo, Ambassador of UAE in Pakistan Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Noaimi, Commander SC Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa, DG Frontier Works Organisation, and a large number of locals also attended this event.
