Rawalpindi: Commissioner retired Capt Mohammed Mehmood announced on Wednesday that 15 percent of the work on Daducha Dam has been accomplished in two and half a months, as reported by a news source.

Mr. Mohammed Mehmood chaired a meeting which was organized to review the constructional progress on the dam and he termed the completion of this project as a benefit to public interest. The same meeting was attended by chief engineer of Potohar region, Moin Qureishi, executive engineer Small Dams Rawalpindi Maqbool Ahmad and additional deputy commissioner Revenue, retired Capt Mohammad Shoaib.

The commissioner stated that the project was on the fast track to completed and that heavy machinery was engaged to work on the dam’s spillway and excavation. He termed the project a necessity to accommodate the water supply needs of Rawalpindi, noting that the requirement for the city was 72 to 75 million gallons per day. This figure is expected to reach 100 million gallons by 2030 and the demand will be difficult to meet without the Daducha Dam.
