In the earlier phase, the development authority constructed Chaubucha Underpass, realigned Jail Road Underpass, built several U-turns, installed rainwater chutes, and fixed several walkways. The road was expanded by six metres on each side. In the process, 1,300 trees had been cut off for the expansion of the Canal Road.
In the project’s phase two, fencing of the canal, and construction of pedestrian bridges, is planned. At the moment, the LDA is fencing both sides of the Lahore Canal between Mall Road and Dharampura.
