Lahore: Punjab Secretary Local Government (LG) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal on Wednesday (August 4) said that under the PKR 44 billion Cities Development Programme Phase 1, development work in Sahiwal and Sialkot is near completion, news sources reported. He shared this information while briefing Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development (LG) Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed on the project’s development.

According to Megal, development schemes for Sargodha, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan will be included in the project’s second phase. The meeting was also updated on the status of the Punjab Cities Program and the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Program.
The secretary further informed the meeting that under the Punjab Cities Program, work on establishing municipal infrastructure is being carried out in 16 cities across the province at a cost of PKR 34 billion. Under this programme, infrastructure development and city improvement projects such as water supply, sewerage, waste management, public parks, and street lighting installation will be done. These developments will be done in accordance with international development standards.

Minister Rasheed instructed the relevant authorities to expedite and complete the development projects within the specified timeframes.
