Lahore: The work on the beautification of Lahore’s historic Mall Road has begun after a tender of more than PKR 22.5 million was approved for this purpose — a news source reported on Saturday (July 14). In this regard, the work order was issued by Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Chief Corporation Officer Syed Ali Abbas Bukhari.

Commissioner Lahore Danish Afzaal issued instructions for the work to be completed in a timely manner for the restoration and beautification of Mall Road.
The tender was issued to Jalal Constructions; whose bid was 20% lower than the estimate at PKR 22.594 million. The roads leading from Neela Gumbad Chowk to GPA Chowk, from PMG Chowk to Istanbul Chowk, and Aitcheson College’s service roads will be carpeted and repaired.

Other tasks include marking of lines and lanes, restoration of footpaths, and the installation of traffic signals, among other things.
The restoration and beautification project is further expected to help improve the traffic situation in the area.
