Lahore: Lahore Commissioner and Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Captain (retired) Saif Anjum has provided his approval to the resumption of construction work in about 190 development schemes in the city, a news source reported.

Development work on these projects was put on hold due to a lockdown imposed to prevent COVID-19 transmission. In addition to resuming work on these uplift schemes, the commissioner has also announced the government’s decision to invite pre-qualification bids for five mega projects.

Receiving directives from the commissioner, the corporation dispatched the tender notices for publication in national dailies. Out of these 190 schemes, 150 are part of the Punjab Municipal Services Programme, while 40 will be completed with the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore budget.

The five mega projects for which tenders will be invited are:
- Construction and rehabilitation of Circular Road
- Construction and rehabilitation of Data Darbar
- Beautification of Lari Adda
- Rehabilitation of Zarar Shaheed Road
- Restructuring of Shimla Pahari
