Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has announced that the KP government has decided to establish a women business park in a bid to promote women entrepreneurship in the province and maintain a business-friendly environment for women, according to media reports.

The CM held a review meeting of Economic Zones Development And Management Company (EZDMC). The meeting was informed that new economic zones are being set up to boost industrial activities and sustainable development of the industrial sector.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Industries Abdul Karim, Principal Secretary to CM Amjad Ali Khan, Industries Secretary Hamayun Khan, KP EZDMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Javed Khattak, and other concerned senior officials.
Previously, four Special Economic Zone (SEZ) were launched, which includes Nowshera Economic Zone (Extension), Rashakai SEZ, Dera Ismail (DI) Khan Economic Zone, and Jalozai Economic Zone. It was reported that nearly 300,000 job opportunities are expected to be raised through the development of the economic zone.
Moreover, the Ghazi Economic Zone that spreads across 89 acres and the Chitral Economic Zone that covers 40 acres of land will be launched in the next two months. The Ghazi Economic Zone will create employment opportunities around 17,980 while Chitral Economic Zone is expected to create 8,000 jobs.

Additionally, the meeting was also briefed on the industrial units currently being established, the newly launched economic zones, and the planned ones. It was also mentioned that the economic zones have brought more than PKR 31 billion investment in the province and have led to the establishment of 1,290 industrial units.
