Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has received 15 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines and testing kits – with the capacity to conduct 15,000 tests – from the World Health Organisation (WHO), a news source reported.

Additionally, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Monday distributed 3,500 N95 masks in public hospitals of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) donated 200,000 N95 masks to the PRCS along with 2,000 reusable isolation hoodies. Reportedly, these masks and hoodies will be distributed among hospitals throughout the country to protect the medical staff from the COVID-19 infection.

As per the publication, Pakistan has received most of its medical supplies and equipment as donations from China. Alibaba, a private company, also donated 57,600 testing kits and 500,000 masks. The World Bank (WB) also allocated funds worth USD 200 million, in the first week of April, to assist Pakistan in combating the COVID-19 breakout.
