Quetta: The western portion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which will connect Gwadar with Quetta, will be completed by 2018.
National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar stated this during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Nawab Sanaullah Zehri on January 5.
According to a new source, Tarar said 95% of the construction work on the Gwadar-Ratodero Road is complete, adding that the maintenance of law and order is essential for the completion of all road projects in the province.
The CM assured Tarar that security would be provided to all parties involved in the execution of these projects. It was also decided that the pace of development work on roads that will connect the port city of Gwadar to the rest of the country would be accelerated.
CPEC is a 3,000-km long network of roads, railway lines, and oil and gas pipelines originating from Gwadar and stretching to Kashgar city in north-western region of Xinjiang Uygur, China.
