Islamabad: President of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Børge Brende landed in the capital on Thursday for a one-day visit to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan and other government officials, as per sources. The WEF is the leading organisation geared towards promoting economic development across the world.

This visit of the WEF president to Islamabad is a sign of global organisations showing interest in Pakistan and their willingness to invest in and support the country’s growing economy.
A few of the officials who met with Brende include Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, Minister of Education Shafqat Mahmood, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam, and Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood.

A lunch was hosted in the president’s honour by the Chairman Pathfinder Group Ikram Sehgal and Chairman Martin Dow Group Ali Akhai. For the past two decades, Dow Group and Pathfinder have organised the ‘Pakistan Breakfast’ during WEF Annual Meetings at Davos. The chief guest from Pakistan was available for a question-answer session with international media personalities and global leaders.
