Lahore: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has announced its decision to conserve Moti Masjid, Akbari Gate, Shahi Hamam, Deewan-e-Aam, Kharak Singh Haveli, Maktib Khana, and Doulat Khana Khas-s-Aam during the fiscal year 2020-21, a news source reported.

The WCLA completed rehabilitation of various important projects in Lahore Fort this year and made several new discoveries. The conservation project completed during the year so far included rehabilitation of Barood Khan, Picture Wall, Royal Kitchens, and restoration of Musaman Gate, Shah Jahan’s Quardangle, Temple of Lo, Shah Burj Gate and Alamgiri Gate. The authority utlised funds of PKR 50 million on conservation of these projects.

In the upcoming fiscal year, the WCLA also plans to rehabilitate Sonehri Masjid, Dabbi Bazar and Chowk Kotwali at an estimated cost of PKR 443.46 milli0on. Moreover, the authority will also spend PKR 120 million on the restoration of Mariam Zamani Masjid and PKR 500 million to rehabilitate area connecting Bhatti Gate and Katri Allahabad.

The WCLA has also been engaged in conserving historical monuments in other parts of the country; including Jehlum, Zhob, Okara, Rawalpindi, Muzafarabad and Peshawar.
