Lahore: In a bid to enhance accessibility to the Shahdara Historical Complex, the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has partnered with the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA). The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create streamlined and innovative routes to the historic site, ensuring a more convenient and enriching experience for visitors.
The Shahdara Historical Complex, home to iconic landmarks like the tombs of Emperor Jahangir and Empress Nur Jahan, attracts history enthusiasts and tourists from around the world. However, access to this treasured site has long been a challenge. The new initiative aims to address these issues by reducing travel times, easing congestion, and providing multiple access points from various parts of the city.
According to WCLA, the project is part of broader efforts to strengthen Lahore’s tourism infrastructure while preserving its cultural heritage. Updates on the project’s progress and details of the additional access routes will be announced in the coming months.
WCLA Director General Kamran Lashari expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “Through this MoU with RUDA, we are committed to creating infrastructure that supports modern tourism and respects and preserves Lahore’s historic essence. Tourists will now have a seamless way to experience the Shahdara Historical Complex.”
The collaboration is expected to significantly alleviate congestion and improve navigation, making the journey to Shahdara smoother and more enjoyable for visitors.
