Pursuant to the details, the initiative is funded by the World Bank under the Punjab Tourism Economic Growth Programme. The project, expected to conclude by 2025, focuses on restoring house facades and infrastructure, with 190 of 1,038 properties already completed.
Bhatti Gate, historically known as the “Chelsea of Lahore”, was home to many notable figures, including Allama Iqbal and music composer Khawaja Khurshid Anwar. WCLA plans to transform the area into a tourist hub, similar to Delhi Gate, by converting vacated police station rooms into a tourist centre and craft bazaar.

A major challenge has been removing encroachments, including relocating a police station. Restoration efforts include structural repairs, woodwork, fresco lining, and illuminating the historic gate.Top of Form
