Lahore: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has initiated conservation work on the Tomb of Mir Chakar Rind and the Satghara Fort in Okara, according to a news report published on August 13. To this effect, WCLA Director General (DG) Kamran Lashari– along with the District Administration Okara and the WCLA conservation team – inspected the project site on Wednesday.

According to details, the authority is enhancing the infrastructural services in the surrounding area of the Fort of Satghara – which also involves the covering of open drains and replacement of underground water sewer system.

The project is expected to cost PKR 100.04 million. The DG WCLA recently stated that the preservation of the tomb and the fort began on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar. He added that the rehabilitation work was being executed in line with international conservation standards – and that this project was part of WCLA’s plan to work in all provinces to enhance heritage sites.
