Lahore: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) issued a notice warning the public about old, dilapidated structures and unauthorised development within the walled city area.

In a public notice published in important daily publications, the administration has encouraged inhabitants of the old city to beware of unlawful construction and to vacate any such structures that are identified as worn-out or deteriorating.
According to the statement, the administration has issued separate warnings against unauthorised constructions and old buildings. The following are the notification’s specifics:
- The inhabitants of old dilapidated buildings have been instructed to “Renovate old buildings and report to the authorities about it
- Vacate any buildings designated as extremely old and ensure implementation of authorities’ directives
- Failure to vacate or renovate old buildings will result in legal action against the residents
- The public can intimate authority regarding the old buildings during the office hours

On the other hand, regarding illegal constructions, it is advised that:
- Basement excavation is not permitted within the boundaries of the historic walled city. Any such construction must be halted immediately.
- Before beginning building within the walled city authority, the involved parties must obtain authorization from WCLA.
- Halt any such construction that has started without authority’s consent.
