The incumbent government, as such, is focusing its efforts on preserving the country’s culture and heritage via a series of restoration initiatives being conducted in the city.
The Lahore Fort Museum features many antiquities dating from the period of the 19th century Sikh Emperor Maharaja Ranjit Singh. WCLA Spokesperson Tania Qureshi has stated that the Maharaja’s granddaughter Princess Bamba Sutherland donated the items to Pakistan before her death.
The WCLA has notified its intention to upgrade the museum and gallery. As such, it is set to replace the cloth used in the museum, as well as the glass incorporated in its windows. Further, the authority plans to install a modern lighting system to the compound, in addition to repairing its air conditioning system and changing the labels tagged to the preserved items.
