Islamabad: World Bank (WB) Country Director Najy Benhassine on Thursday announced an all-out financial and technical support to Prime Minister’s nationwide environmental protection and conservation initiatives and enhance disaster resilience in Pakistan, according to news sources.

Reportedly, Najy Benhassine revealed this while in a meeting with Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Climate Change Malik Amin. The WB country director was leading a delegation, and conveyed bank’s complete support to Pakistan’s post-pandemic green recovery initiative and afforestation and environmental conservation initiatives – with special focus on Green Stimulus ‘10 Billion Tree Tsunami’ project.

He revealed that PKR 120 million funding announced by WB for Green Stimulus initiative has been approved already. The meeting highlighted that these funds can help promote green jobs during the coronavirus pandemic and help protect and conserve nature.
