The CM stated that the Karachi Water Services Improvement Project is worth USD 1.6 billion and will be implemented in three phases. The USD 100 million needed for the first phase has already been approved, and was used for the institutional reform of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. The second phase will focus on major investments, such as a bulk water supply system for Karachi from the Hub dam and the Indus river, along with improvements in the sanitation system of the city.
