Mansehra: A World Bank (WB) team on Friday conducted a site-visit to the 4,300 megawatts (MW) Dasu hydropower project to inspect its developmental progress, a news source reported. As per officials, the delegation inspected the dam’s central tunnel and expressed satisfaction on the work completed so far. This visit took place after the Executive Committee on National Economic Council approved of a higher price for the land acquired for the project.

The WB officials also met with the district administration of the area as well as some locals. They were briefed on the land-acquisition process during their meeting with the area’s Deputy Commissioner Arif Khan Yousafzai. He stated that the project would facilitate further development in the region and improve power situation.

A committee representing land providers for the project also met with the WB team. The members stated that the local land providers were satisfied with the set price on land and that they would cooperate for the timely completion of the project with the district administration and WAPDA.
