Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday (Aug 6) informed the team of World Bank (WB) in a virtual meeting that the provincial government has decided to allocate plots to 6,500 families affected by the anti-encroachment drive along the drains and waterways in Karachi, according to news sources.

The meeting was attended by World Bank South Asia Regional Vice President Hartwig, Country Director Najy Benhassine, Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro and Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah. The chief minister reported that several WB-aided projects are in progress in the city. He disclosed that Murtaza Wahab has been appointed as Administrator of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and will oversee the progress of the projects.
During the discussion, CM Syed Murad Ali Shah requested the WB vice president and country director to provide a development package for Sukkur, Larkana, and Hyderabad. The representatives of WB agreed to provide an uplift package for the construction of roads, bus stands, sewerage system, water supply and other related facilities.

Moreover, the chief minister disclosed that the new four-year partnership with WB will focus on five sectors; economic development, health, education, climate change, and participatory or inclusive growth.
