Islamabad: World Bank (WB) President David Malpass is scheduled to visit Pakistan in November, according to a news report. As per government officials, the purpose of this visit is concerned with enhancing the bank’s financial support for institutional reforms and overall economic growth in the country.
The Ministry of Finance on Thursday revealed that WB Country Director in Pakistan Patchamuthu Illangovan, along with his team members, had called on Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh to apprise him about the upcoming visit of the WB president.
As per an official statement, the delegation’s purpose is to facilitate cooperation between the WB management and Pakistan to encourage institutional reforms and catalyse the growth agenda through financial and technical assistance. This visit follows Prime Minister Imran Khan’s meeting with Malpass during his recent tour of the United States.
The WB delegation is expected to review various projects underway in coordination with the government, and lay the grounds for future projects as well.
