Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has recently met with a World Bank team led by Country Director Najy Benhassine to discuss progress on 13 ongoing projects worth USD 3.2 billion, as reported by a news source on April 4.

According to the details, both parties have found that USD 1.33 billion (40%) has been used and pledged to expedite projects by addressing any potential delays. Attendees included provincial ministers and officials. Major projects discussed included the ‘Karachi Mobility Project’, focusing on road infrastructure, and the ‘Yellow Line Corridor’. Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon highlighted progress on bridges and the BRT System – Yellow Line.

Another significant project, ‘Competitive & Liveable City of Karachi (CLICK)’, aims to enhance infrastructure and the business environment. Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani assured that necessary approvals for CLICK are secured, with restructuring expected by April end. For the Solid Waste Emergency & Efficiency Project (SWEEP), construction of waste transfer stations and landfill sites is ongoing, targeting completion by June 2025, with procurement processes advancing smoothly.
