Karachi: The World Bank has extended its support to the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) with regard to cleanliness campaigns in Karachi, a news source reported.
A delegation of the World Bank called on SSWMB Managing Director AD Sanjrani. The WB representatives said that the cleanliness work in the metropolis will be carried out as per international standards.

In response, Director Sanjrani briefed the delegation about progress on a survey to determine the physical condition of Karachi. He said that utmost efforts are being made to identify more landfill sites in the city.
It is pertinent to mention that the Supreme Court-mandated commission on water and sanitation recently proposed the formation of a modern garbage disposal system.
It submitted its recommendations in a report. Besides calling for the timely completion of effluent treatment plants, the commission stressed on establishment of a centralised complaint cell for civic issues.
