Washington: A World Bank report released recently, has highlighted and appreciated various business reforms in Pakistan, according to a news source. This report has taken in consideration various steps taken by Pakistan to improve the business environment in the last 10 years.
Among these reforms, the report mentioned Karachi’s improvement in the transparency of land registration by publishing the fee schedule and list of required documents online for any property registration.
Changes in both Karachi and Lahore were considered in this report, with taking registration, applications, and taxation details online appreciated in both metropolises.
Lahore eased the property registration process by automating administrative procedures, and by improving transparency in the sector. Karachi achieved transparency by focussing on land registry.
Both cities made import and export easier with a new container terminal and enhanced customs platform for online document submission.
Lahore and Karachi also digitised land records during 2016, improving the quality of land registration. In 2015, Karachi made getting an electricity connection a faster process by improving their inventory for external connection works.
