Karachi: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar inaugurated Mauripur’s Treatment Plant-III on 22nd July 2018, according to a news report. This plant was being rehabilitated on orders from the Judicial Commission on Water and Sanitation. Work on TP-I at Haroonabad, TP-II and TP-III at Mauripur under the project Sewerage-III was scheduled to be completed by 2015, after starting in 2013.
Noor Ahmed Samoo said that S-III started facing delays from 2008 when three Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Treatment plants became inactive because of budget shortfall. As a result of this, the sea was being polluted because of sewerage water being discharged into it.
The TP-III is expected to clean 77 million gallons of dirty water daily and provide clean water to Malir, Korangi, Haroonabad, and Mauripur. The total cost of this project is PKR 36.117 million, which has been equally contributed by both provincial and federal governments.
