Bahawalpur: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shozab Saeed has said that work is being done on a large water scheme in Cholistan Desert with funds of PKR 650 million provided by the Punjab government, a news source reported. He inspected the pace of work being carried out for the water scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the technical teams surveyed areas from Kudwala to Bana Post in Cholistan Desert for laying water pipelines. Providing details of the project he said that the total length of water pipelines of the project is 294,214 RFT that would have 14 pump houses, five ground storage tanks, 10 low level reservoirs, nine operator rooms and 20 shades.
The deputy commissioner directed that the project should be completed within stipulated time. He said that Cholistan Development Authority will be handed over the task of supervision of the project after its completion.
Efforts are being made to provide and conserve water in several cities of Punjab and WASA has announced that water bills of service stations without the recycling plants will be increased by 50% each quarter.
