Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonment boards have started rationing water in residential areas under their jurisdiction, a news source reported. The cantonment authorities also plan to stop supplying water between February 1 and 12. The residents will have to obtain the resource from private tankers during this period.
According to a senior Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) official, the water rationing drive has been launched because residents tend to waste water when cleaning their houses or washing their cars. He informed that water would be supplied every alternate day to the city’s densely populated areas, but the supply period would be doubled from 30 minutes to an hour’s timeframe. He instructed residents to store water in their underground tanks for a few days’ usage.
