Lahore: As part of the Prime Minister (PM)’s ‘Clean & Green Pakistan’ initiative, a leading beverage company has introduced a rehabilitated water filtration facility with an aim to provide safe water to 140,000 people in the country by 2021, a news source reported.

Minister of Industries, Commerce, & Investment Punjab Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal inaugurated the project in Lahore. According to reports, international non-governmental organisation WaterAid facilitated this refurbishment, while PepsiCo provided the financial support.
The officials concerned expect that the project will benefit around 3,500 people residing in Millat Colony, Lahore, along with 5,000 residents of the Gaus ul Alam Colony in the Gulberg area of the city.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the minister stated that water was an essential part of every day life. He extended his appreciation to the collaboration between the beverage company and WaterAid for supporting the Punjab government in ensuring provision of safer water to the city’s marginalised communities.
