Lahore: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Chairman Umer Tanveer has inaugurated a refurbished water filtration plant in the provincial capital under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Clean Green Pakistan Initiative – a news source reported.

A non-government organisation (NGO) WaterAid and the beverage company PepsiCo assisted and funded the initiative.
The new facility is expected to benefit 2,373 people – living in the vicinity of Basti Allah Ho & Jinnah Park of Gulberg. An additional 2,500 people residing in Basti Fateh Abad will also be able to use the filtration plant.

The project was launched under the PM’s Clean and Green Pakistan Initiative by PepsiCo – as part of the company’s plan to improve the access to clean water.
Speaking at the inauguration, the PFA chairman underlined that ‘there was nothing more essential than access to safe water’. He also praised both the two companies for their collaboration with the Punjab government.
