Lahore: The Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) has reported on a 30% to 40% increase in water consumption in Lahore due to the novel coronavirus crisis in the city, a news source reported. To this effect, WASA has set up a helpline to assist people in resolving complaints.

in regards to water consumption in Lahore, WASA Managing Director (MD) Syed Zahid Aziz advised the public to use water carefully and avoid wasting it. WASA Chairman Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood said that people should wash hands to protect themselves against the novel coronavirus, but not waste water while doing so. The MD stated that people should wash their hands for 20 seconds. He added while scrubbing the hands with soap, keep the tap closed to save water.

On the other hand, WASA has asked the citizens of Lahore to use the toll-free number 1334 for online registration of complaints. A WASA spokesperson added that the authority has implemented special arrangements to ensure that residents receive uninterrupted water supply during the novel coronavirus outbreak. WASA has also ensured uninterrupted draining of sewerage water, he said.
