Rawalpindi: The Cooperative Housing Society has issued an annual water supply charge to Railway Housing Society, in addition to eleven other housing societies. This charge includes an additional maintenance fee of PKR 500.
Since 2017, thousands of residents have been charged this maintenance fee in their water supply bills, and a collective PKR 3,700 has been collected from them so far. This will be permanently added to water supply charges from now on, whereas in the eleven railway housing schemes, residents might still not receive a regular flow of water and have to resort to suppliers to meet their needs.
Cooperative Housing Society’s Muhammad Zahid has informed Secretary Railways about the additional costs borne by tube wells because of which additional fees have been added. He specified that the problem of unavailability of water will not be solved through this fee as it is an independent measure.
