Lahore: The Government of Punjab has prepared a Water Act to stop water wastage, reported a news source. The act forbids domestic users from installing water pumps without procuring suitable licenses.

The act is meant especially for the domestic users. The citizens can no longer install motor for pumping underground water without a license. Water Ranker Authority will issue the license.

The act also recommends similar sanctions for installation of tube wells by farmers. If this recommendation is approved, Irrigation Department will issue the license to the farmers.
Similarly, the act also encompasses the companies that sell bottled water. Water Commission will issue license to these companies.
Reportedly, the Water Act Bill has been sent to Punjab Assembly for approval. Please note the Punjab Cabinet’s subcommittee has already approved the Water Act.
As its prerogative, Punjab assembly may or may not introduce some amendments in the Water Act Bill.
