The appeal, directed to the project management unit of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP), emphasizes the urgency of including the ISWM Abbottabad sub-project in the upcoming bidding process.
As revealed in the details, WASSA CEO Rehan Yousaf highlighted the Hazara Division Commissioner’s call to prioritize the ISWM sub-project in Abbottabad in a letter addressed to the Local Government Secretary. This urgency stems from a recent court order halting the disposal of garbage from Abbottabad city at the Salhad dumping site, necessitating swift action to address the city’s waste management challenges.

CEO Yousaf sought the local government department’s guidance and emphasised that 416 kanals of land have already been acquired for a purpose-built solid waste management facility in the city as a part of the KPCIP Abbottabad. However, he expressed concern that the ISWM sub-project is currently excluded from the upcoming bidding process, tentatively scheduled for the next year, according to information from the PMU-KPCIP.
