Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has prepared the PC-1 for supplying 50.4 million gallons of water to the city’s residents via the BRB Canal, a news source reported. The project had been proposed several years ago but its development had remained stalled due to unresolved matters with the Punjab Irrigation Department.

As per the details shared by the authority, the project involves setting up a water filtration plant near Bhaini Village located on the bank of the BRB Canal. Reportedly, WASA will be paying PKR 5 billion to the irrigation department for using water from the canal.

Sources within WASA report that the legal aspects of the project are in their final stages of being settled, and once everything has been resolved, the authority is expected to proceed with setting up the PKR 14 billion project. Work on setting up the filtration plant is estimated to commence by June, later this year.
