Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has announced its decision to inspect 100,000 properties in its bid to verify reports of illegal water and sewerage connections installed in these units, a news source reported. As per the deadline issued, WASA is to complete the physical inspection in two weeks.

As per officials, the number of illegal connections in its administered areas recently witnessed an alarming increase; resulting in financial losses worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the authority. In addition to that, it also accounts to the loss of underground water.

In an initial survey conducted by WASA, 170 illegal connections were identified. Based on the findings of this survey, WASA has decide to expand the scope of its inspection. For this purpose, the WASA managing director has instructed heads of all sub units in the city to share their reports based on the findings of this survey.
